When Winter Storm Uri put Texas in the deep freezer, 200 of ChildCareGroup’s 1,000 child care centers were impacted. The result “included broken pipes, loss of learning materials and education supplies and more,” with some in need of various stages of repair to reopen.
Coming to the aid of these free child care assistance centers is Save the Children, which has provided $250,000 to get the centers back in operation, with the ChildCareGroup Dallas centers receiving $115,750.

Already, Southern Crest Learning Center is in the recovery stage, while Kids R Kids #10 is making repairs with the goal to open by the end of the month.
In addition to the North Texas area, Heart of Texas based in Waco ($30,250) and Southeast Texas based in Beaumont ($77,500) are benefiting from the quarter-of-a-million-dollar donation, with the remainder being used to purchase PPE for providers, who received the grant from all three areas, divided equally.
The 100-year-old Save the Children organizations “address children’s unique needs, giving them a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm.”
