Another healthcare group has decided to reschedule its major fall fundraiser to the spring. Methodist Health System Foundation was to honor Linda and Mitch Hart with its Robert S. Folsom Leadership Award on Friday, October 1. But the call was made to postpone it to Friday, April 8, at the Hilton Anatole’s Chantilly Ballroom.

According to Foundation President Jim Johnston, “As a 94-year-old health system, Methodist feels it is important to lead by example and to protect our Folsom sponsors and attendees, Methodist leaders, care providers, patients and friends. We were sincerely looking forward to celebrating Linda and Mitch, and had an exciting and meaningful event planned. But we, along with the Harts, believe it is most prudent to wait until April for the Delta variant to be better controlled.”
In the meantime, as part of the Award program presented by Nancy Ann and Ray Hunt, Carolyn and David B. Miller and the Lupe Murchison Foundation, the Harts were given the opportunity to select how the funds raised through the event would be used. Linda and Mitch chose “the significant renovation of the Women’s Imaging Center at Methodist Dallas Medical Center.” Despite the past year of the pandemic, “the Center provided over 9,000 individuals with access to screening mammograms, diagnostic imaging services, biopsies and bone density tests.”
The Harts are no strangers to supporting programs for women. For example, in 2015 they helped launch The Dallas Opera’s Hart Institute for Women Conductors.
Even with the change of dates for the dinner, the event’s fundraising continues to support the Harts’ goal to support the renovation. So much so that “an anonymous donor has stepped forward to match the funds raised dollar for dollar for the Women’s Imaging Center project.”
