According to Hope Restored Missions Board Member and volunteer Kathy Smith,

“Hope Restored Missions was formally formed in the spring of 2019. Our mission is to restore hope for those experiencing homelessness and those facing housing insecurities in our community and throughout the world. We perform a street outreach each month to distribute toiletry items, information about housing, ID’s, medical needs and jobs. Our goal is to offer guidance and support to help our homeless neighbors gain access to critical resources to ultimately sustain a more stable and productive life. It is a blessing to serve our homeless neighbors as jobs are found, housing is established, identification is procured, and dignity and hope are restored.

“Hope Restored Missions needed funding to open a Supportive Center to serve our neighbors in need of assistance. We learned the details of the North Texas Giving Day (NTGD) Campaign not long before the campaign began in 2020; but we were determined to get involved. The NTGD Team provided marketing signs, social media help, training, and the support that helped us to promote our cause in the community. In August 2020, we took our NTGD signs when we partnered for a Food Distribution Outreach in McKinney, Texas. While there serving, we introduced other non-profits to the campaign. We also spread the word through our social media sites and by word of mouth. At the end of the campaign, we received approximately $1,400. While this was not a huge amount compared to many other nonprofits, we were ecstatic because we now knew the potential in being part of North Texas Giving Day.

“While participating in North Texas Giving Day, we were donated a 1-year lease to office space at 1947 K Avenue in Plano, Texas. We used the funds collected from NTGD to help with the initial entry costs such as our security system, insurance, interne, and phone service. Since we moved into our space in November 2020, the clients served has rapidly increased from 16 clients to over 300 in just a few short months! That’s impact!

“This year, due to early bird sign up, we were granted an opportunity to take part in the North Texas Giving Day Party on the Plaza with Daybreak at WFAA in downtown Dallas. Due to that exposure, we have met and developed partnerships with other amazing non-profit organizations. Our donor base has increased, and more people have inquired about Hope Restored Missions and how they can donate. We are looking forward to a spectacular fundraiser this year through North Texas Giving Day on Thursday, September 23.

“Hope begins here at Hope Restored Missions! It takes all of us to get our homeless neighbors from homelessness to home!”
