According to Friends of the Katy Trail Operations Director Lauren Whitson,
“From health nut to beer gut, the 23rd Annual Katy 5K presented by Michelob Ultra is the run for everyone! Friends of the Katy Trail’s largest fundraiser of the year is back and we’re looking forward to seeing our energetic crowd on the evening of Thursday, September 9.
“What sets this 5K apart the rest, and the reason it’s ranked the most fun run in town year after year, is that it takes place in the evening and is followed by the legendary Katy Picnic complete with Michelob Ultra, food from over 40 local restaurants, and a live performance by Emerald City Band ‘Downtown Fever.’. This event is a 5K, food festival and concert, all rolled in to one.
“Registration is open at katytraildallas.org. Regular entries start at $65 and include a performance tech shirt, chip timer for the run, food, concert and two 12-oz. Michelob Ultras. Go VIP for $150 and you’ll be treated to a BBQ dinner in the Katy Trail Ice House VIP tent and receive a Friends of the Katy Trail hat.
“While the Katy Trail is a city park, it is managed by the nonprofit organization Friends of the Katy Trail and funded through donations and community support. Thank you to our Major Sponsors ($10,000 and up) to date: Michelob Ultra, Katy Trail Ice House, Green Mountain Energy, ISN and CityDoc Urgent Care.
“Be sure to register early. Space is limited – this party is known to sell out! Sponsorship opportunities are still available. The deadline to make our marketing materials is Friday, August 6.
“Visit katytraildallas.org/5k for more information on the event, registration, sponsorship opportunities and volunteering. See you on September 9!”
