According to Pioneer Natural Resources Corporate Operations Executive VP and Dallas CASA Board Member Mark Berg,
“Dallas CASA is hoping to inject some safe fun into your fall with a newly-imagined Champion of Children event.
“Normally held in a large ballroom with guests in dresses and suits, Champion of Children is moving outdoors to The Rustic this year and has asked well-known Austin musician Bob Schneider to perform. All funds raised at the event support child victims of abuse or neglect served by Dallas CASA.
“The event will be held on the evening of Thursday, October 14. Schneider, one of Austin’s most celebrated musicians, is releasing a new record on Friday, August 27. He’s won more Austin Music Awards than any other musician, including Best Songwriter, Best Musician and Best Male Vocals for a total of 54 awards to date.
“At the Champion of Children dinner and concert, Schneider will be performing his rock and country act solo, allowing for a casual evening under the stars. Guests can expect to hear such hits as Wish the Wind Blow Me, Peaches, 40 Dogs, Mudhouse and Honeypot while enjoying fall weather and a chance to mingle with other supporters of Dallas CASA who are committed to helping children who have experienced abuse or neglect.

“Each VIP ticket to the event receives VIP seating, a private bar area, a buffet dinner and a chance to meet Schneider prior to his show. Individual tickets include general admission seating, cocktails and buffet dinner as well.
“Pioneer Natural Resources already stepped in as the live music sponsor, and many longtime friends of Dallas CASA have joined as sponsors including: Priscilla and Corey Anthony; Suzanne Bryan; Cynthia Comparin and Retta Miller; Denise and Russell Harper; The Hirsch Family Foundation; Marshalling Resources; Hannah and Greg May; Quilling, Selander, Lownds, Winslett And Mose P.C.; The Rosewood Corporations; Russell Reynolds Associates and the Society of American Military Engineers.
“Pioneer’s partnership with Dallas CASA began over 14 years ago and is one of the pillars of our corporate giving strategy. Many of our employees support the organization by volunteering their time or contributing to CASA through our employee match program, and Pioneer is proud to provide financial support for CASA’s mission. However, our support pales in comparison to the work of the staff and volunteers of CASA who play such a critical role in serving the children in protective care in Dallas County.
“Early on this year, Dallas CASA encouraged its friends and supporters to think both creatively and safely about ways to support Champion of Children’s fundraising. So a few fun-filled small-group pre-parties hosted by board members and others are in the planning stages. For example, Miller and Comparin are hosting a wine tasting and auction at Graileys Fine Wines, featuring a tasting menu prepared by longtime Dallas Chef Sharon Hage, former owner of York Street Restaurant and a pioneer of the Dallas farm-to-table movement.
