Educational First Steps (EFS) has a new board of directors chair and three additional board members. EFS President/CEO Vickie Allen announced that Gail Stoke will serve as board chair for a two-year term (2021-2023).

A 40-year veteran in the fashion industry, Gail has also been involved with educational program through her serving on Educational First Steps board, the University of North Texas Board of Governors and Vickery Meadow Reading Academy Advisory Committee, as well as volunteering as a student literacy tutor and mentor for refugee children at McShan Elementary School.
As Vickie pointed out, “The board chair is vital to an organization. The partnership between a non-profit’s board chair and CEO is an essential element of a strong board and successful organization. Gail is a passionate and visionary leader, mentor and teacher, an effective motivator and an invaluable collaborator. Her corporate experience exemplifies organizational strategy that unlocks growth potential. Her passion for developing and coaching staff has served her well in both the private and public sectors.”

In addition to Gail’s new role, the board has added three new members including Shaunetta Heiskell, Norman Robbins and Amy Stewart.
Thanks to EFS leadership, its Four Steps to Excellence program is to “create and support high-quality early learning environments that ignite the minds of children from birth to age five.”
