Gay Donnell Willis Has Left The Building

Jul 2, 2021 1:30 PM by Jeanne Prejean

It just shouldn’t come as any big surprise after the Dallas City Council run-off elections on Saturday, June 5. Following Gay Donnell Willis’ defeat of Leland Burk for Dallas District 13 replacing City Councilperson Jennifer Staubach Gates, Gay has resigned from her position as Turtle Creek Conservancy president CEO.

During her tenure at the Conservancy, Gay oversaw the 20-acre Turtle Creek Park’s going through the removal of the Robert E. Lee statue, the park’s name change, the pandemic’s upheaval of special events including countless weddings and the everyday maintenance of the grounds and Arlington Hall, to name just a few things.

While her successor has yet to be named, the Turtle Creek Conservancy staff including Membership/Development Director Amanda Ward, Officer/Events Manager Adrian Lovett and Facilities/Landscaper Manager Garrett James will be working, busily as usual.
