While some are escaping the summer heat for cooler climates, the Dwell With Dignity crew is hard at work preparing for its 2021 Thrift Studio. Already in place are Honorary Chair Denise McGaha of Denise McGaha Interiors and Art Chair Eddie Maestri of Maestri Studios, as well as the location and dates for savvy shoppers to pick up some amazing furnishings and artwork.
Presented by Texas Counter Fitters, the run-of-show will take place Mondays thru Saturdays from Friday, August 27, thru Saturday, September 25,** at 175 Oak Lawn at the corner of Oak Lawn and Irving. To kick off the month-long fundraiser, the Preview Party will be an almost-all-day affair from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 6.
Designers providing the vignettes that will be on display throughout the showroom will be AF Home Interiors, Chase Dowell Interior Design, Karen Legako Design, Mary Beth Wagner Interiors, Meredith Ellis Design, The Collective, Tori Rubinson Interiors and Yates Desyn.
In addition to the furniture provided by area individuals and firms, there will be more than 50 pieces of original art from local artists including Margaret Rehwinkle and Teresa Bristol.
Thrift Studio will be a daily wonder as pieces are no sooner purchased than replaced by additional items. Thank heaven it’s free for the viewing. On the other hand, the Preview Party will require tickets. Host Committee tickets are available now, while the VIP tickets won’t go on sale until Tuesday, July 6.
Funds from the pop-up shopping spree will support Dwell With Dignity’s mission “to help families escape poverty and homelessness through design; one household at a time.”
