Have you heard of the Forefront Living Foundation? If you haven’t, not to worry. It was formerly known as Presbyterian Communities and Services. Evidently the name change took place in October 2019, but the announcement must have gotten lost between the October smack-you-down tornado and the 2020 takeover of the COVID-19.
Regardless of the name change, the mission is still to “raise funds for the T. Boone Pickens Hospice and Palliative Care Center” through its annual Each Moment Matters Luncheon.
With fall in-person events perking up calendars, the 12 Annual Each Moment Matters Luncheon leadership and details have just been announced.
Heading up this year’s fundraiser will be Co-Chairs Christie Carter, Beth and Dan Plumlee and Junior Villanueva, all of whom experienced the compassion provided loved ones at the Pickens Hospice and Palliative Care Center. Junior described his late wife Maria’s spending six weeks there as a “thin space — that place where heaven meets earth.” When Christie’s childhood friend, Alison, was in need of hospice care, Christie arranged for her to “get settled” there. During her ten days at the Center, Alison “came to know the passion and devotion exuded by each teammate.”
On the other hand, while Beth’s mother spent only 24 hours at the Center in 2018, “Beth remembers the immediate comfort and special time she and her family spent together.”
According to Foundation Executive Director Tena Burley, “Each of these co-chairs are [sic] incredibly accomplished and respected in our community, but beyond that, they share a unique bond that brings them together to help raise funds for the Faith Presbyterian Hospice Caring Fund.”
Joining the four co-chairs will be Sammye and Mike Myers as honorary co-chairs for the event taking place on Tuesday, September 21, at Brook Hollow Golf Club.
Stay tuned for the announcement of the 2021 Each Moment Matters recipients.
