Not even a global pandemic can stop Mother’s Day from happening. Whether it’s an online “thank you” or a family get-together, it’s a day that is perfectly made for the month of May.
Over the years of celebrating mothers on this special day, the tradition has been brunch and/or bouquets of flowers.

The Auxiliary of Nexus has come up with a two-for-one answer to your Mother’s Day celebration. No, they’re not going to be cooking up a brunch, but they are going to come up with a floral solution that will be a gift of two mothers — both yours and another.

The Mother’s Love Grows By Giving plan calls for the auxiliary members and Nexus clients to assemble thoughts of flowers into handcrafted bouquets on Friday, May 7. The following day (aka Saturday, May 8), a Pop-Up Flower Shop drive-thru will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Nexus campus (8733 La Prada Drive) for the arrangements to be picked up.
Orders may be placed either online in advance or in-person at the drive-thru.
In addition to gifting your mom with this special bouquet, your purchase will “go straight back to the empowering mission of Nexus Recovery Center” that has been helping women in recovery for 50 years.
And if you want to go the extra yard, you can “sponsor a gift basket for a mother currently on campus in the Nexus recovery program, and/or donate to the organization in your mother’s honor.”
According to Nexus Auxiliary Advisory Board President Lauren Gillette, “Most of us on the Auxiliary are mothers ourselves so we are handpicking exactly what we would want coming Mother’s Day morning. We are basically personal shoppers for all those kiddos and significant others out there. But truly, all kidding aside, if we’ve learned anything from this past year it’s that we want quality time with our family and we want to make a difference. There’s power in your purchase and any mama’s heart is going to be happy and proud to know her family chose this gift for her.”
