Just got an SOS from the Easter Bunny. It seems that due to all those pesky COVID-19 restrictions, the fuzzy little lepus has been hamstrung in putting together Easter baskets for Dallas County abused and neglected children.
To help the cottontail brighten the lives of children who have been through so much, Community Partners of Dallas and Child Protective Services (CPS) caseworkers are holding the Easter Basket Drive.
While an Easter basket may not seem like a big deal to some folks, to these kids it may be the first thing they’ve ever had that is brand new and belongs to them.
Here are a couple of ways that you can hop on board to make this project a success:
You can donate “a store-bought, pre-made, wrapped Easter basket”** for kiddos (0-18 years old) by dropping them off at CPD headquarters (7950 Elmbrook Drive) Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Friday, March 19.
Or, if you don’t want to go to all the hassle of going to the store and delivering the basket(s), you can always make a monetary donation. If you’re on a budget… and who isn’t… you can provide a basket for a baby for just $12. But if you want to open your heart and credit card, you can make some 13+ year-old youngster’s Easter and get her/him a basket for $20.
The bunny needs your help by Friday, March 19, to provide the baskets in time for Easter Sunday, April 4. Hop to it, please!
