Like many other dedicated North Texas fundraising groups, the pandemic putting the kibosh on the Dallas Junior Forum’s being able to provide grants to their Agency Partners this past year.

However, when February’s Winter Storm Uri created dramatic and unprecedented crises for the Partners, DJF’s leaders (President Julie Crowley, President-Elect/Parliamentarian Pat Smothermon, VP – Development Bonnie Cameron and VP – Service Marla Nunally) decided it warranted tapping into DJF’s Benevolent Fund, “which is dedicated to providing special and emergency assistance when and where needed.”
According to Julie, “We are sadly aware of the impact and burden this historic storm has had on our Agency Partners, especially in the midst of the pandemic, and these funds will go directly to them to help recover. In addition to our regular efforts and programs with our agencies, DJF will continue to assess ongoing storm aid needs.”

DJF provided $25,000 in funding assistance to the following partner agencies: Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center, The Family Place, Juliette Fowler Communities including Ebby’s House, Hope’s Door New Beginning Center, Network of Community Ministries and The Ronald McDonald House of Dallas.
Established in 1977, DJF has “donated more than $1M in direct grants and non-grants to worthy non-profit organizations throughout North Texas.” During 2018-2019, its “members provided more than 13,600 hours of volunteer services to Agency Partners.”
