Some staff and board leadership changes over at Friends Of The Katy Trail have just been announced. Dallas native Amy Bean has been named the organization’s executive director.
Having earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas and a Master’s of Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School, her resume includes the Center for Women and Enterprise in Boston, being executive director for the Young Women’s Preparatory Network from 2008 to 2014, and creating Tiny Bee Gift Co. in 2014.
A couple of years ago she partnered with Shared Studios’ “Portal” to bring the unique art concept to NorthPark Center, Klyde Warren Park and Bonton Farms.
According to Amy, “The Katy Trail is a true Dallas treasure, and I am honored to be working to maintain and enhance this beloved landmark.”
The other change involved Eric Paulson succeeding Charlie Shufeldt as president of the Friends board of directors. Making up the rest of the board leadership team are Charlie as past president, VPs Buddy Cramer and Troy Daniel, Treasurer Ken Elmgren and Secretary Ruthie Shor.
Eric said, “We’re very excited to have Amy onboard to continue the momentum and energy our ‘Complete the Trail’ campaign generated in the past year with Charlie’s leadership. With Amy working with our talented board members, officers and staff, I know that we will continue to make the Katy Trail even better.”
In addition to the Friends’ new board members (Eric Bing, Cricket Griffin, Bess Dickson, Lara Francis, Adam Mengacci, Jill Rareshide, Shannon Stamm and Newt Walker), staff members Ann Whitley Wood will continue as director of major gifts and former Membership and Marketing Director Lauren Whitson will assume her new duties as director of operations.
