According to The Family Place Board Member Lindsay Jacaman,
“It’s hard to believe that every third home in our community darkened by abuse. In fact, one in three women will be a victim of physical or sexual violence in their lifetime. During this pandemic, we have heard reports of domestic violence increasing throughout the world. At The Family Place our counselors know that when the community is suffering, our clients suffer more, our phones ring more often, and our shelters fill beyond capacity. Sarah is one of those clients who turned to us for help when COVID-19 was forcing us to stay at home.
“’I know in my heart of hearts, if I had stayed, especially during quarantine, I wouldn’t be alive today,’ she says.
“The Family Place never closed our doors during the pandemic. We connected Sarah with a counselor, and she began both group and individual counseling virtually. She learned how to move forward, got a job, and is taking care of herself.
“’The Family Place gave me the tools I needed to move forward and never go back,’ she says.
“Our goal has always been to make every home a safe home, but we can only do that with your help. Because we haven’t been able to hold many of our annual fundraising events, we are even more reliant on our faithful donors to support our lifesaving services that help women like Sarah. Even just $1 will buy a snack for a child—and we provide more than 100,000 snacks each year. If there’s any way you can dig a little deeper today, we promise to put your dollars to good use providing shelter, food, clothing, counseling and the resources to help victims start new lives.
“Please give generously to The Family Place today and help us bring the light of love and hope to victims in our care. Make a donation online at www.familyplace.org/donate.”
