According to Children’s Medical Center Foundation President Brent Christopher,
“There’s no question that 2020 has been quite the year. We’ve seen a global pandemic, a chaotic presidential election, shifts to remote learning and other disruptive events. They’ve all contributed to rising stress levels, general anxiety and other mental health challenges for children and adults alike.
“This holiday season, we’re asking the community to invest in our children’s mental health by donating to Children’s Medical Center Foundation, the fundraising arm for Children’s Health. According to the 2019 Children’s Health Beyond ABC Report, more than 130,000 North Texas children suffer from an emotional disturbance or addictive disorder. That number has likely only grown during 2020.
“A longtime supporter of Children’s Health – the Hamon Charitable Foundation – has committed a $7.5 million challenge grant to help tackle the pediatric mental health crisis in North Texas. This grant is critical to launching an innovative, ambitious approach developed in collaboration with Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute. It can change the mental health trajectory for children here and everywhere. But we can’t do it without your help. To receive this grant, we must raise an additional $7.5 million during the next three years.
“As you look for ways to give back this year, please join us in charting a groundbreaking path for our children—one that allows them access to the necessary resources to support their overall wellness and mental health. It will take our entire community coming together to live out the mission of making life better for children.
“You can learn more and make a donation at give.childrens.com. Please join us and invest in the future of our children. They need you more than ever!

Brent, this is a wonderful letter to ask for money. How can anyone refuse???? I hope our recent gift can be counted in the Hamon match, but I understand if not. Good luck! XXRandi
