According to Vogel Alcove President/CEO Karen Hughes,
“How do you keep the Christmas tradition alive when you are homeless? Instead of going home for the holidays, families have to make sacrifices and come up with new ways to celebrate.
“Though the windows are not yet filled with glitter and lights, the holiday season is fast approaching. At Vogel Alcove, that means it is time to start planning for our Holiday Store. Each year, Vogel Alcove is proud to provide this unique shopping experience to the families we serve.
“Each December, we open our ‘store’ that is stocked with items to make a child’s holiday extra special. Held on Thursday, December 10, through Saturday, December 12, parents can select from a broad array of toys, books, games and clothes that will light up their children’s eyes this holiday season.
“This is just one of many programs Vogel Alcove is proud to provide and, with the help of numerous volunteers and countless generous donations, the Dallas community can ensure that the families served by Vogel Alcove continue to enjoy the holiday season.
“The Holiday Store is a special tradition that encompasses the warmth of the holidays and expresses the spirit of giving that makes this agency so special.
“We’re currently collecting toys and other items for our annual holiday store. This is a great opportunity for you and your friends or coworkers to hold a toy drive for the holidays. We need items for children ages 5 weeks to 5 years, as well as Tweens and Teens. If you would like more information about the holiday store at Vogel Alcove, please contact Heather Bradford.”
