According to The Wilkinson Center Engagement Manager Laura Ingrim,
“Wilkinson Center’s mission is to create pathways out of poverty for the 10,000 clients we serve each year. One of our most fun and meaningful events is the annual Toy Drive And Distribution. Since 2011, Wilkinson Center has been collecting toys, bicycles, and gift cards for children in the Dallas community. As a soon-to-be first-time mom, this year’s distribution takes on a new sense of meaning for me.

“I am due with a baby boy in January. Like many new parents, I am feeling a mixture of excitement, nervousness, and joy. Added to these is a feeling of apprehension, as this difficult year has created a layer of uncertainty for the future. I can only imagine what it must feel like for parents facing the holidays and not having the means to provide gifts for their children. Many of Wilkinson Center’s clients are fighting to keep roofs over their heads and food in their homes, and they simply don’t have any extra for the regular holiday festivities.

“But that’s where you come in! During this time of increased need, every donation makes a difference, and your gift will help make the season brighter for the 450 children we will serve at a curbside, socially distanced distribution in December. We are accepting new toys, bicycles, and games for children 2 to 18 years old. Gifts can be dropped off at 4144 N. Central Expressway, Suite 1010, Dallas, on Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“Additionally, donors are encouraged to shop using our Amazon Wish List . Prefer to donate financially towards the purchase of bicycles and gift cards for teens? Just use our donating link . All donations are requested by Friday, December 11.
“Remember the excitement you felt as a child each holiday season, or the joy at seeing your own children and family members open gifts every year? This December will be one of the most challenging many people have ever faced. Help spread a little joy in the community by supporting Wilkinson Center’s Toy Drive and put smiles on the faces of Dallas children this holiday season!”
