With COVID-19 showing no signs of giving up, healthcare providers are standing their ground in enforcing recommendations. For example, since The Sweetheart Ball’s providing funds for UT Southwestern’s cardiology research and treatment, it’s literally following “doctor’s orders.”

In a recent note to its membership, 2020-2021 Sweetheart Ball Chair Anita Arnold reported a recent conversation with UT Southwestern Medical Center President Dr. Daniel Podolsky: “He discourages gathering or more than 10 people. UT Southwestern also has a policy that their physicians cannot attend gatherings of more than 5-6 people.”

For this reason, the annual new member tea at which new and old members have the opportunity to “hear the doctors speak about the work” would not take place this year out of health and safety concerns for its membership.

However, she did share the news that new members include Sue Justice, Michelle Lockhart, Beth Plumlee and Carolyn Thompson.
