Last night the gals who hadn’t worn stilettos in ages were wobbling over the cobblestone driveway leading to the exquisite backyard of Marcia and Mark King’s Preston Hollow estate. The reason for the invitation-only, in-person, masked, outdoor gathering, co-chaired by Mason Custard, Pilar Henry, Marcia King and Sara Stroud, was for the kick-off of the 2021 St. Valentine’s Day Luncheon and Fashion Show.
Since Honorary Co-Chair Guy Griffeth was unable to attend the kick-off, his wife/Honorary Co-Chair Louise Griffeth brought his likeness in a framed photo.
St. V-Day Fashion Show And Luncheon Chair Melinda Knowles officially announced that the Jan Strimple-produced fashion show and seated luncheon would take place on Thursday, February 11, at the Morton Meyerson with fashions provided by Highland Park Village merchants (Carolina Herrera, Alice and Olivia, The Conservancy, Veronica Beard, Roller Rabbit, Lela Rose and Ralph Lauren).
This 2021 fundraiser will honor The Peggy and Carl Sewell Family with The Lynda Adleta Heart of Gold Award, philanthropist and cancer survivor Patsy Miller Donosky with The Icon Award, the late Ross Perot with the newly created Memorial Hero Award and third-grader Harrison Marcus with The Spirit Of Tom Landry Award. This past summer Harrison completed his treatments for leukemia and “is now home and doing well.”
Sponsorships, tables and tickets are available now, with proceeds benefiting North Texas programs of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Since being established by Rusty Duvall and Janet Evans 37 years ago, the event has raised more than $13M for leukemia and lymphoma research.
