In the 2020 Celebrating Women’s final video presentation before the virtual Dr. Oz conversation with Dr. Lucy Wallace next Wednesday, CW Chair Peggy Meyer and Underwriting Chair Jill Tananbaum wanted to emphasize how the annual Baylor Scott And White Dallas Foundation fundraiser supports the women of Dallas’ underserved communities.
Thanks to Baylor Scott And White Community Care Clinics (CCC), low-income people are able to access medical care.
In the four-minute video, CCC Medical Director Dr. Jeffrey Zsohar explains how the clinic has 50,000 patient encounters yearly, including women and breast help. At this time much of the work is reactive care for patients with late-stage chronic diseases, but “we want to take it to the next step. We want to include preventative care, so that we can avoid the complications and problems that many of our patients are now presenting for the future.”
Thanks to funds raised by Celebrating Women, “these dollars help us extend care and services for our patients who may not have these services otherwise.”
While the annual luncheon will not take place, the videos, plus Dr. Oz’s upcoming presentation, are providing a wealth of information on how Celebrating Women is supporting resources, research and treatments for battling breast cancer.
If you haven’t signed up for Dr. Oz, get going.
