According to Border Collie Save And Rescue alumnus Colt King,
Hello, my name is Colt and I am an alum from BCSAVE. They are a Border Collie rescue that helped me find my furever home. I knew they were my friends as soon as we met, and never doubted they would take care of me. However, I never realized that complete strangers helped me as well. People just like you who donated money on North Texas Giving Day, and started my journey. Doggie high five to you.
How exactly does your money make a difference? Sit. Stay. I will tell you.
Some of us were surrendered to BCSAVE because our families fell on hard times. Others had a really “ruff” life, and were strays rescued by good Samaritans. Many came from our wonderful shelter partners. BCSAVE even travels across Texas, and beyond, to rescue and adopt dogs. Volunteers give time, gas money and sometimes car upholstery (motion sickness anyone?) to start our journey to our furever homes.
Not all dogs are perfect and join new families right away. Some require more patience and help. Your donations allow BCSAVE to rescue all kinds of dogs. Young, old, healthy, injured, special needs, perfectly playful and seriously scared all get a chance with this amazing rescue.
I am what you would call quirky, which basically means handsome! Oh wait, Mom just reminded me that journalistic integrity is important. Therefore, I must admit that quirky also means neurotic about the TV and squirrels!! Mom is currently looking for a local chapter of SA (Squirrels Anonymous), if you know of one.
Anyway, it took me a while to find the right home. BCSAVE was able to give me extra time because of donations from wonderful people like you. They never rush just to make more room.
Some of my friends need more than just patience and extra time. They come to BCSAVE not feeling too well and need help from the veterinarian. Someone is always recuperating from surgery. And, can we talk about heartworms? These tiny worms are vicious killers and are expensive to treat. BCSAVE has treated 16 dogs already, just this year. I tried to tally all the medical bills, but calculators are not made for dog paws. Let’s just say it is a lot. Your North Texas Giving Day donation will help BCSAVE keep healing my friends. That makes all our tails wag!
BCSAVE even has special volunteers that identify dogs that want to play all the time and never stop. Border Collies are known to have high energy, but some are truly off the charts and really like to show off. BCSAVE has dedicated fosters that assess and work with these guys and their potential families. I don’t mean to brag, but I knew a few Hollywood super stars before they were discovered!
I could go on and on about my amazing friends at BCSAVE. They have rescued almost 100 dogs so far this year and they need your help. Please participate in North Texas Giving Day. Your donations truly make a difference! Sit. Stay. Donate.
