The Dallas Institute Of Humanities and Culture’s 16th Annual Hiett Prize in the Humanities will be virtually presented to St. Johns College Professor Zena Hitz on Wednesday, November 11. In addition to the award, Zena will receive a cash award of $50,000.
According to Institute Executive Director Dr. Larry Allums, “Zena Hitz exemplifies the kind of work, all too rare these days that the humanities can foster. We need thinkers and doers of Zen’s talent and vision to regain the solid ground on which the humanities have in the past steadied our culture.”
Endowed by Institute Lifetime Board Member Kim Hiett Jordan, the prize was created to “recognize dedication to and achievement in the humanities by candidates who are in the early stages of their careers and whose work shows extraordinary promise.”
Presenting this year’s award will be last year’s Hiett recipient Dr. Jessica Hooten Wilson.
