One of the area’s ultimate favorite drop-by guests is Georgia born-and-bred darling James Farmer III. While he may have roots in Perry, Georgia, he’s right at home in any country club surrounded by the most gel-nailed gardeners. That’s why the Women’s Council of the Dallas Arboretum was thrilled to announce that James would be one of their speakers for its Writer’s Garden. How timely! His “Arriving Home: A Gracious Southern Welcome — was just this minute published and ripe for gracious gals. As James puts it, “Traditional style stands the test of time.”
In addition to James, Event Chair Suzanne Millet arranged to also have on the day’s program an equally adorable and renowned textile designer, Lisa Fine, who will discuss her latest book “Near and Far: Interiors I Love” that just came out.
Since this is the year of COVID-ing, Suzanne and Council President Kay Weeks announced the plans for the Woman’s Garden in a YouTube video that included Honorary Chair Diane Sealy and news that the whole kit-and-caboodle would be online.
The day’s activities will start at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 17, with guests attending via private host homes and the day’s speakers streaming from the DeGolyer House starting at 10 a.m.
If you’re still internet-challenged, it’s time to woman-up and get with the virtual world and impress those grandmunchkins. Lisa and James are well worth the challenge. Plus you’ll be helping the Council provide funds for the crown jewel of the Dallas Arboretum.
Online tickets go on sale at noon on Monday, August 24, at Women’s Council of Dallas Arboretum.
