The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary leadership 2019-2020 Auxiliary President Margaret Hancock and 2020-2021 Auxiliary President Lisa Singleton have been meeting about its upcoming Fashion Show and Luncheon. Like other nonprofits with fall fundraisers, they’ve been struggling on how to proceed. Originally scheduled to take place this past spring, it was postponed until the fall. Today it was announced that “with great sadness that the difficult decision has been made to cancel the annual event scheduled for Tuesday, September 15.”
According to Lisa, “This was not a decision made lightly, but it is the right thing to do for the safety and well-being of our donors, supporters, members and for the people served by The Salvation Army.”

However, there is good news associated with this decision. Plans and people of the 2020 fundraiser will stay on board for 2021 including Event Chair Kim Hext, Honorary Chair Ellen McStay, Margot Perot Service Awardee Carol Seay and show producer Jan Strimple.

What’s more, the clothes already collected for 2020 will be held over for 2021.
According to Kim, “We are grateful for the support of everyone who had donated their gently loved couture clothing and accessories. Those donation originally tagged for this year’s event will be carefully place in storage and make their appearance at the 2021 Chic Boutique, Fashion Show and After Sale.”
She added that donations of gently worn couture fashions and accessories are still being collected by calling 214.637.8121.
Lisa and Kim have already locked down the Meyerson Symphony Center for the event on Tuesday, April 6.
In the meantime, consider donating funds to The Salvation Army DFW Command. Without this year’s event, they’ll need your help to soldier “on the front lines of this global pandemic serving the community’s most vulnerable.”
