Since this year is demanding creative types to go into overdrive, the 2020 Crystal Charity Ball committee has been burning up their brain cells to raise funds for Dallas County children. One of the challenges was how to announce the theme for the black-tie ball on Saturday, December 5, at the Hilton Anatole.
Traditionally revealed at a private home in the spring, those plans were victims of the shelter-in-place orders. A new delivery of the news was thought up that would have made the Royals proud.

On Tuesday, 150 regal red boxes wrapped up in Union Jack ribbons and Harrod’s key chains with Buckingham guards were hand-delivered to the top sponsors throughout the area. When opened, the announcement from 2020 CCB Chair/town crier Tucker Enthoven was that the theme would be “Majestic Britannia.”
Underneath the sealed layers of white tissue and crinkle-cut paper were a note that the announcement had been underwritten by Texas Capital Bank and a collection of goodies like a Union Jack, a mini-bottle of Beefeater, Walkers shortbread, Charbonnet and Walle Milk Marc de Champagne truffles and a Big Ben container with English Breakfast tea.
It looks like the the annual fundraiser will going across the ponds for the 2020 beneficiaries (
