According to Our Friend’s Place Executive Director Sue Thiers Hesseltine,
Our Friends Place was ready to “run for the roses” at our annual Gala, Auction And Casino Night, our biggest fundraiser of the year to empower homeless young women and at-risk youth which was postponed from Saturday, May 5 (Kentucky Derby Day), due to COVID-19.
The new date for our Gala, Auction And Casino Night is 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, at the Renaissance Dallas Hotel. Our co-chairs Nancy Scripps, Cathy Susie and Pat Zajac look forward to welcoming guests to bid in live and silent auctions, play casino games, and enjoy dinner, cocktails, and dancing. Our Friends Place congratulates Ebby Award winners CREW Dallas and Dr. Nancy Bernardino for their achievements and contributions to the advancement of girls and women in North Texas.
For over 30 years, Our Friends Place has helped young women break generational cycles of abuse, neglect, poverty and homelessness through empowering self-reliance and independence. Through our Transitional Living Centers, SOAR to Success homeless prevention program, and alumni group, helped over 500 youth in 2019 to build brighter futures.
Tickets to our annual Gala, Auction And Casino Night start at $250, which includes dinner, open bar, and a donation that makes a difference to young woman we serve. Funds raised from this event benefit Our Friends Place so we can continue critical programs for hundreds of youth in our community. Our programs have not stopped for the pandemic, yet we are working closely on virtual platforms to keep homeless and at-risk young women on a path to success.
We are grateful to all our sponsors and guests who maneuvered their schedules to support our new date for our Gala, Auction And Casino Night, presented by HollyFrontier Corporation and honoring Bobbie Sue and Phil Williams.
