According to Girls Inc. Metropolitan Dallas CEO Beth Myers and 50th Anniversary Gala Co-Chairs Stacey Doré and Carrie Freeman Parsons,
Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas was set to celebrate 50 years of transforming girls’ lives and inspiring them to be strong, smart and bold at a gala planned for Friday, May 1, that was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
We have transformed the in-person gala to an innovative, live virtual celebration, which will take place Saturday, May 16, at 5:30 p.m. with a special musical performance by the strong, smart and bold singer-songwriter, Meghan Trainor. This exciting event will reflect 50 years of Girls Inc. accomplishments and successes serving the Dallas community. Gloria Campos will serve as emcee and Cecilia and Garrett Boone will be honored for their decades of dedicated leadership, generosity and support of the Girls Inc. mission
Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas focuses on serving girls in low-income, under-resourced communities and equips girls with knowledge and skills to navigate gender, economic and social barriers and to grow into healthy, educated and independent young women. Girls are served through after-school, summer and partner-based programming.
While there is no cost to attend our virtual gala, funds raised during the event will provide much needed resources for Girls Inc. to continue critical programming. When the pandemic hit in March, we quickly transformed our programs from in-person to virtual to ensure our girls could continue participating in programs that help put them on a path toward success. Given the challenges brought on by the pandemic, the girls need our support more than ever.
We are grateful to our virtual gala sponsors: Allstate, Oliver Wyman, Toyota, Capital One, BCG, Hunt Consolidated Inc., Baker Botts, Black Box, D Magazine, Jackson Walker LLP, Poo-Pourri and JP Morgan Chase.
