Memorial Day usually means a time when things wind down for the summer. But leave it to the year 2020 — things just aren’t the same. For instance, it’s just been revealed that change is in the wind over at Leukemia Texas.
Mandy O’Neill, who has served as CEO since 2012, has taken a new position as senior vice president of the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
According to Mandy, “After eight amazing years, (and lots of thought and prayers) I am stepping down from my CEO role at Leukemia Texas to spend more time with my growing boys and take on a new career path.
“It was a plan I wanted to announce earlier, but the ever-changing world makes my announcement seem so minor. I am honored to proudly stay involved with Leukemia Texas as a board member.”
Succeeding Mandy is non-profit management vet Jessica Dunn, who will officially become the Leukemia Texas executive director on Monday, June 1.
Having begun her career as part of AmeriCorps during Hurricane Katrina, Jessica has worked with The March of Dimes, the Dallas Stars Foundation, the American Red Cross and the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas and most recently LiftFund DFW.
Stay tuned. More leadership changes in North Texas nonprofits are in the wind.
