COVID-19 has stepped up creativity nowadays. One example took place for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League’s check presentation to Dallas Symphony Orchestra President/CEO Kim Noltemy. It started off with a Zoom meeting of the DSOL-ers presided by DSOL President Kim Brannon, who officially ended her tenure and virtually handed over the gavel to incoming DSOL President Anne Ligon.
An hour later Kim N. along with DSO Development VP James Leffler and DSO Volunteer Services Director Allison Brodnax arrived in Kim B.’s driveway along with DSL Board Member Carole Ann Brown and Anne Ligon to receive a check for a whopping $954,722. The funds were the result of the DSOL’s fundraisers — Fashion Notes, the Presentation Ball, the Junior Symphony Ball and the canceled Savor the Symphony’s online raffle. If ever dollars were appreciated by the DSO family, it was this year.
But the celebration didn’t end there. To cheer Kim on her accomplishments, her DSOL-ers paraded with SUVs and sedans decked out with signs and balloons with DSO trumpet player Kevin Finnamore serenading from the sidewalk. Marena and Roger Gault even made a pass in their vintage white Thunderbird convertible.
