According to Auxiliary of Nexus President Janina Solomon and Nexus 200 Spring Luncheon Chair Elizabeth Minahan,
The major fundraiser for the Auxiliary of Nexus, the 2020 Spring Luncheon benefiting the Nexus Recovery Center slated for Monday, April 6, was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
We expected 500 attendees from the Dallas philanthropic, business, and nonprofit communities, along with staff and clients from the Nexus Recovery Center.
Nexus Recovery Center is a nonprofit organization that offers specialized substance abuse treatment services for adult women and adolescent girls, as well as therapeutic treatment and care for their accompanying children.
The Auxiliary’s mission is to support and promote the interest of Nexus Recovery Center by building a strong and active membership, stimulating public awareness and helping in the financial support of Nexus’ services and projects.
Because of the cancellation of the Spring Luncheon, each of these objectives is weakened, but the greatest loss is to the clients of Nexus who directly benefit from the revenue generated by this cancelled event.
We are fortunate that many supporters have chosen to donate their table and ticket purchases, but because certain expenditures cannot be recovered, we cannot provide the level of support to Nexus we had hoped for.
We will make further appeals to our membership to support Nexus and encourage support from our community. You can have a direct impact on helping those served by Nexus in many ways. Visit our Amazon Wish List page and send items directly to Nexus.
Please visit our website and consider joining the Auxiliary. Donate what you can! We will come back stronger next year with an amazing program that we are already planning! For more information, https://www.nexusrecovery.org/
