Last night’s announcements by the City of Dallas and Dallas County to prohibit gatherings of large groups of people for the next seven days have had organizations rethinking their plans beyond a week.
One of the first to cancel their fundraiser out of consideration for their guests is Community Partners of Dallas. The sold-out 2020 Chick Lit Luncheon scheduled for Friday, March 27, featuring Diane Keaton at the Hilton Anatole has been canceled.
Here is a statement from CPD:
It is with great sadness that we announce that the 2020 Chick Lit Luncheon has been canceled.
After days of very thorough consideration and thoughtful evaluation combined with great hope, we will follow the City’s commitment to public health and adhere to the ban on events of more than 500 people.
On behalf of our luncheon leadership team, our President and CEO Paige McDaniel, and all of us at CPD, we are tremendously grateful to all who have supported our mission to provide what abused children urgently need today to thrive tomorrow. It absolutely breaks our hearts to be unable to share the very special event we had planned for you (it was going to be fabulous as was our beloved Diane!!).
We thank you for your understanding and for continuing to stand beside our children. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Joanna Clarke, vice president of development and communications, at [email protected].
We wish you and yours good health and safety. Thank you again for your support and understanding.”
While the luncheon has been canceled, the work by CPD to help abused and neglected children will continue. The staff will need your support more than ever.
