According to longtime SPCA of Texas Legacy Society member Joan Rogers,
“My husband [the late Dr. Larry Rogers, who passed away this past June at the age of 94] used to always say, ‘If one has more than they really need, then give part of it away so as to enjoy the pleasure of giving while still alive.’ And together we did just that. My husband and I loved this charity and their work to help North Texas pets. We both love animals. And we have supported the SPCA of Texas for over 40 years because they take such good care of them.
“Larry’s affection for animals was the driving force behind his pursuit of a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, which he earned from Texas A&M in 1946. After retiring from his practice, he maintained his devotion to animals through his contributions to the SPCA of Texas. This year I hope you will consider doing the same.
“Pets hold a special place in all of our hearts and that is a joy I want others to experience. When you support the SPCA of Texas, you make that possible. Did you know that eighty-three cents out of every dollar donated goes directly to animal care, community programs and pet and people services? Remember, donations to the SPCA of Texas stay right here in North Texas. You are helping the animals here in your community heal and find loving homes when you support the SPCA of Texas.
“You can even become a Legacy Society member by including the SPCA of Texas in your will, leaving a legacy that will save lives.
“I hope you will consider making the SPCA of Texas your charity of choice! Together, we can all make a tremendous difference in the lives of animals, who often light up our life from the moment they enter it. This holiday season, help change a pet’s life by donating to the SPCA of Texas.
“My husband’s enthusiasm and lively spirit will be missed by everyone who knew him. But I hope everyone follows in his generous footsteps and enjoys the pleasure of giving this holiday season.”
