According to Friends of Dallas Animal Services Executive Director Wendy Reiner,

“I’m so excited to represent a brand new non-profit, Friends of Dallas Animal Services (DAS), as both its Executive Director and as a long-term DAS volunteer. We founded Friends of DAS earlier this year to help bridge the gap between DAS’ funding needs and what it receives from the city budget.
“Most Dallas residents are unaware that our municipal shelter, DAS, is the 3rd largest shelter in the country and on track to take in 40,000 animals in 2019! That works out to over 100 animals coming through the doors each day.
“Despite the large volume of animals sheltered in its facility, DAS strives to ensure that all animals receive compassionate care while awaiting their forever homes. One of the most basic elements of care is a comfy bed, which increases quality of life and reduces stress. While all of the dogs on the adoption floor at DAS received new elevated Kuranda beds earlier this year, these upgrades didn’t reach the pups in other areas of the shelter, such as lost and found, protective custody, and quarantine. So, our 2019 holiday wish is for 220 Kuranda beds so that all of the dogs at DAS can experience the good rest they deserve during their time in the shelter!
“Please visit us at www.friendsofdas.org to donate towards our Kuranda bed goal, learn more about us, and see how you can make a difference for Dallas animals!”
