Leap Day (aka February 29) comes but once every four years and it’s a Saturday on 2020 calendars. Claiming the date for a fundraiser is the Dallas and Northeast Texas Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association for its inaugural Enchanted, An Event to Remember.
With the fundraiser taking place at The Hall on Dragon, Event Chair Catherine Weber has revealed that Martha and Doug Hawthorne will serve as honorary co-chairs.
According to Dallas/Northeast Texas Chapter Director Mark Denzin, “We are excited to add this lovely endeavor to our already established fundraising efforts, headlined by the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s.”
The Hawthornes are well-known for their community involvement with The Stewpot, American Heart Association, the March of Dimes, the State Fair of Texas, the Salesmanship Club, Trinity University and Highland Park Presbyterian Church.
Thanks to his serving as Texas Health Resources CEO, Doug was listed in “100 Most Influential People in Health Care” and inducted into the Texas Business Hall of Fame in 2014.
Having family members who have been victims of Alzheimer’s, Martha and Doug didn’t hesitate when asked to be involved with the fundraiser, saying, “What an honor and a privilege to help the Alzheimer’s Association in this small way to bring attention to this terrible disease now touching so many lives.”
Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available here.
Diana Kerwin, MD says
We are so honored to have Doug and Martha Hawthorne as the Honorary Chairs for the inaugural Alzheimer’s Association Gala on February 29, 2020. The DFW area has many great researchers and health care organizations that are dedicated to finding better treatments and caring for all those facing Alzheimer’s and all dementias. I look forward to seeing the community come out and show the strengths of our community and leading the way to #ENDALZ. Thank you to Doug and Martha and the planning committee for your leadership.
