Communities In Schools Dallas Region was created back in 1985 to address the growing number of high school dropouts in Dallas and surrounding areas. Since its establishment, it has “partnered with nine area school districts serving 64 elementary, middle and high schools that have been labeled ‘”at-risk.'”
With such growth, “a detailed search process” was put into place for a new president/CEO. It was just announced that Adam Powell was the person who fit the bill.
According to CISDR Board Chair Blake Lewis, “Adam is the person we need to lead our team. He knows education and he’s laser-focused on our mission of surrounding students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. He has the experience and skills to help us grow and serve more children in the North Texas region.”
During the past 15 years, Adam has worked with such education nonprofits as Education Is Freedom, Reasoning Mind and Dallas Urban Debate Alliance.”
Adam said, ““I’m looking forward to working with the dedicated staff at CISDR. We have a busy but exciting
new chapter ahead for our organization, a chapter in which we will give more kids in the Dallas area the help and opportunities they need to succeed and thrive.”
