2019 First Sight First Night Co-Chairs Kim and Greg Hext were thrilled over the official kick-off reception for The Dallas Opera fundraiser at NorthPark on Monday, September 16. Not only was the RSVP count at over 120, but it was a stellar crowd including NorthPark First Lady Nancy Nasher with her daughter Sarah Haemisegger, 2019 NorthPark Ambassador Lynn Mock, Rhonda and Fraser Marcus, Tiffany Divis, Lee Ann White, Diane Brierley, Lisa Cooley, Tucker Enthoven, Cindy and Charlie Feld, Stephanie Seay, Teffy Jacobs with her mother Doris Jacobs and the Dallas Opera’s Kern Wildenthal General Director/CEO Ian Derrer.
And it all made perfect sense, since Kim is a 2019 NorthPark Ambassador and NorthPark is the Official Shopping Center of The Dallas Opera Opening Weekend Celebrations’ First Sight First Night in October.
And leave it to NorthPark to once again dress up its partnership with The Fabric of Opera Winspear World Premieres with costumes from Moby Dick, Everest, Great Scott and Becoming Santa Claus in the avenue leading to the Neiman Marcus Court. Curated by The Dallas Opera set and costume designer Tommy Bourgeois, the stagings saluted each of The Dallas Opera’s premiere productions over the years and will be in place until Wednesday, November 6.
According to Ian, “We were delighted by the possibility of a second edition of The Fabric of Opera, and happy to renew our partnership with NorthPark Center. As The Dallas Opera celebrates a successful decade in the Winspear Opera House, it seemed only natural to focus on the world premieres that put the company in the international spotlight.”
As earlier reported, the Hexts have arranged to not only have former retailer Ellen Winspear chair the First Sight Luncheon with fashions from NorthPark’s Dolce&Gabbana on Thursday, October 17, but also arts stalwarts Carol and Don Glendenning will co-chair First Night on Friday, October 18.
Ah, but Ellen’s duties are not ending with the luncheon. In honor of the ten year anniversary of the Winspear Opera House, the entire Winspear family will serve as honorary chairs of the two-day fundraiser.
When asked about arrangements for the black-tie gala, Carol reported that last year’s arrangements were such a success that they deserved an encore.
Tickets for the two-day events are available here.
