According to North Texas Food Bank Annual Campaign Manager Lexi Kay,

The North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) is a hunger-relief organization that focuses on providing children, seniors and families access to nutritious foods. Nearly 800,000 people across our service area are food insecure–this includes almost 300,000 children. Through more than 200 Partner Agencies, feeding programs and the help of our dedicated volunteers and supporters, we distribute nearly 200,000meals each day to hungry North Texans across 13 counties.
While we are making steady progress toward closing the hunger gap, much work remains to be done to reach our 10-year plan of providing access to 92 million nutritious meals annually by 2025. Over the past 10 years participating in Communities Foundation of Texas’ North Texas Giving Day, the North Texas Food Bank has been able to provide more than 10 million healthy meals. We are so grateful to be a part of such a giving community.

The outpouring support we have received from our match sponsors and supporters like you on this 18-hour day of giving and throughout the year is what propels us forward. Every dollar donated, provides access to three healthy meals for families like Jasmine’s. Raising a family of five, Jasmine knows how hard it can be to make ends meet. She unfortunately lost her job and it became next to impossible to feed her growing boys. Jasmine is so grateful for the food she now receives at one of our Partner Agency food pantries. “The pantry is a big help,” Jasmine says. “It alleviates the things that I can’t buy. I just strive to make sure my children have what they need.”

Because of the support on North Texas Giving Day, Jasmine’s family and others facing hardships won’t have to worry where their next meal will come from. This year on North Texas Giving Day, we are aiming to provide 2.4 million meals to our hungry neighbors and with your support and partnership, we know we will be able to provide not only healthy meals, but hope. It’s more than a day of giving–it’s a day of transforming our community. Hard-working families who struggle to make ends meet will be able to put enough nutritious food on the table for dinner. Seniors won’t have to make the difficult choice between necessary medication and meals. And children won’t have to go to school with an empty lunch box. Together, we can fulfill our vision of creating a hunger-free, healthy North Texas.
