According to Frisco Moms Care President Tabitha Davidson,
Frisco Moms Care started as a Facebook group for local moms to connect with others in the community. When we saw moms with financial struggles, we pulled together to help pay electric bills, rent, and buy groceries to help them through tough times. We officially became a nonprofit in 2015 and have been helping families ever since!
The Sister Moms Project is the heart of Frisco Moms Care and the reason that it all started. This project serves to give moms and families in our community a hand up when they need it. We provide clothing, personal care baskets, summer camps, school supplies, backpacks and shoes, thanksgiving meals, holiday gifts and meals, and emergency help as needed.
The idea that we as mothers are helping and supporting each other gives a greater purpose to what this project does for our community. We also do various service projects throughout the community, including our Street Cleanup, where we clean up our adopted street, and our Mother’s Day Project, where we provide gift baskets to moms with children in the NICU and PICU. The Service Committee also supports the Sister Moms Project by holding an annual Thanksgiving Food Drive to provide meals for the families we serve.
All of this would not be possible without our Fundraising Committee. One of our largest fundraisers of the year is North Texas Giving Day. In 2018, we raised $8,794, which is over $5,000 more than in 2017! With these funds, we were able to provide school supplies, coats, personal care baskets, and holiday meals to the families we serve in our Sister Moms Project-all with the money raised on that single day!
Our amazing Facebook group had a huge hand in helping us reach our goal. It truly is a sisterhood of moms trying to make our community a little brighter! Frisco Moms care is 100% volunteer operated, so all funds raised go directly toward serving our community. We hope to make North Texas Giving Day 2019 our biggest fundraiser yet!
