Is it snowing outside? Must be, because Christmas has come early with legendary philanthropist Annette Simmons’ gifting $1M for the 2019 Crystal Charity Ball’s fundraising for Dallas children’s nonprofits.
Ah, but this gift isn’t the first time that Annette has been Mrs. Santa Claus for the organization. Having donated for 39 years, she has provided $1M annually for the past 13 years.
And just as any CCB beneficiary will tell you, being picked by CCB means more than money; it also means priceless validation for what they do. So, the same logic applies to Annette’s support for CCB.
According to 2019 CCB Chair Pat McEvoy, “Annette, and her late husband Harold Simmons, have been loyal donors to Crystal Charity for almost four decades. Annette’s continued and exceptional support of our beneficiaries continues to enhance the well-being of thousands of children in Dallas County. Her generosity is legendary and her commitment to Crystal Charity is a tremendous endorsement of the work we do in the community.”
In addition to her financial support, Annette is personally involved. She is one of only two CCB Lifetime Advisory Board Members. The other was the late Ruth Altshuler.
Annette explained her support saying, “I believe the Crystal Charity Ball Committee does an outstanding job of selecting the most worthwhile children’s charities and raising the money needed to sustain them.”
Annette’s gift will help the committee of 100 provide more than $6.8M for the following 2019 beneficiaries: Child and Family Guidance Center, Community Partners of Dallas, Cristo Rey Dallas College Prep, For the Nations Refugee Outreach, Interfaith Family Services, Jubilee Park and Community Center, Los Barrios Unidos Community Clinic, Mercy Street, Promise House and Readers 2 Leaders.
