According to Boots & Salutes Co-Chair Carolyn Anderson,
I was immediately hooked by Equest because of the therapeutic services they provide to children and adults with diverse needs including veterans through their Equest Hooves for Heroes program. For me, it hit close to home. I have a younger sister with cerebral palsy who benefited from equine therapy, and I have an older brother who has served in the Army for 30 years and was recently promoted to Inspector General. I understand how important it is to take care of our veterans and active duty members, which is why I have served as the chair of Equest’s Hooves for Heroes fundraiser, Boots & Salutes, for the past three years.
Since its founding in 2012, Equest’s Hooves for Heroes program has helped more than 1,500 veterans and military family members through the transition from military to civilian life by providing equine-assisted activities and therapies. These services are offered at no cost, which makes fundraisers like Boots & Salutes so important.
Boots & Salutes, presented by Crossfirst Bank, will be a fun-filled evening held on Friday, July 19, at Equest at Texas Horse Park. I have been the chair of the event since it began two years ago, and this year I am grateful to have the help of my best friend and Co-Chair Norma Jean Schaltenbrand, to ensure that this is the most memorable year yet.
The evening will include a WWII T-6 Texan fly-over, live music by Ray Johnston Band, a stellar silent auction and delicious food from our amazing restaurant sponsors: Bar Louie, Carlton Provisions, Doc B’s Fresh Kitchen, Haute Sweets Patisserie, Kolache Factory, Pop Star Handcrafted Popsicles, Resident Taqueria, and Savor Gastropub. Tickets are $75 for guests or to sponsor a veteran, and tables are $600 for eight guests.
We would like to thank our amazing sponsors including: presenting sponsor CrossFirst Bank, Dan and Inez Browning, Marsh & McLennan Agency, Pendery’s World of Chiles & Spices, Mavs Foundation, SettlePou Law Firm, Luther King Capital Management, Louise and Guy Griffeth, Sunbelt Rental, Dallas Light & Sound, Global Cooling Solutions, Living Magazine, Rita Wortham Photography, Bob Manzano Photography and Food Glorious Food.
