With cameras from local TV stations “rolling,” Children’s Cancer Fund Executive Director Jennifer Arthur presented a check for a whopping $1 million Tuesday evening to Brent Christopher, president of the Children’s Medical Center Foundation.

The presentation at Children’s Health Medical Center Dallas represented the net proceeds from the CCF’s 31st Annual Gala, which benefited pediatric cancer research and treatment programs at Children’s Health and UT Southwestern. The April 26 fundraiser at the Hilton Anatole was chaired by Kimberly Schlegel Whitman with Honorary Co-chairs Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman.
In brief remarks Tuesday, Jennifer said the funds would be used for the nonprofit’s “two buckets — pediatric cancer research and child life services.” She also gave much of the credit for the big check to Kimberly, who “brought in donors from all across the country.”
Kim said chairing the April 26 benefit “was my honor.” Then Brent, who called the CCF check a “game-changer,” was asked by a TV reporter whether he had anything to add. Retorted Brent exuberantly: “Yay Children’s Cancer Fund!”
