With some folks still trying to recover from Sunday’s “Surprise Storm,” about 80 Junior Leaguers held forth last night at Debbie and Nickey Oates’ home for the 2019 Milestone Luncheon reveal.
Cutting right to the chase, Event Co-Chairs Alli Eagan and Connie O’Neill reported that the speaker for the annual fundraising event will be Golden Globe-winning actress Keri Russell. Sure, Keri made news as one of People Magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People in the World and for cutting her lengthy curls back in 1999, but she has also gained a reputation for her performances on screens and stage. She is currently appearing on Broadway in “Burn This” with Adam Driver until July.
According to Luncheon Co-Chair Alli, “We are so excited to have Keri Russell join us for this year’s Milestones Luncheon. She has mastered being a phenomenal actress and brings a depth of experience spanning Hollywood to Broadway. She is a woman with range, and her heartfelt nature exudes through her on and off the screen.”
As for the local star of the luncheon, it will be Bess Enloe, who will be recognized as the 2019-2020 Sustainer of the Year. Over the past five decades, Bess has been an active leader in supporting the arts. This leadership has earned her the TACA Silver Cup, the TITAS Award for Excellence, and the Dallas Historical Society’s Award for Excellence in the Arts. She has also been the honoree for the Meadows at the Meyerson event, and received SMU’s Distinguished Alumna Award.
The luncheon, which will take place on Friday, November 1, will be held at the Hilton Anatole. The Junior Leaguers say they’re expecting a “sold-out event.”
Individual tickets are $200, with patron tickets going for $350. For more info on how to be a part of the festivities, check here!
