Just as Tucker and Rich Enthoven were grabbed for a photo in their den on Wednesday, April 10, they shot off. Looking over her shoulder, Tucker said they had to go get a Scotch for “Phil” who had saved the day. Seems someone had noticed an odor in the backyard. Could it be a natural gas leak?

Normally, this situation would have been bad enough. But on this evening, the Enthovens were hosting the 2019 Mad Hatter’s Tea patron party. Luckily, it was a false alarm thanks to Phil Whitcomb (aka Mad Hatter’s Tea Honorary Chair Kristina Whitcomb’s husband), who discovered it was just a propane tank that needed some fixin’. In his business suit, he lay down on the ground with screwdriver in hand under the tank and took care of the problem.
Alas, poor Tucker was out of Scotch to reward her hero. But the next day she had a bottle delivered to Phil.
BTW, the ladies involved in the 2019 Mad Hatter’s Tea reflect less than six degrees of separation. In addition to being 2020 Crystal Charity Ball Chair Tucker’s charity selection chair, Kristina is also a cousin of 2019 Mad Hatter’s Co-Chair Sharla Bush.

Another connection was last year’s Mad Hatter’s Chair/2019-2020 Dallas Arboretum’s Women’s Auxiliary President Venise Stuart used to be a neighbor of the Enthovens. Rich recalled how the Enthovens and Stuarts would share carpool duties when their kids were little.
Laughing, Rich said, “And now we’re all going to be grandparents.”

While Tucker and Rich were finally photographed in the living room, the home with its beautiful grounds was filled to the max with folks like Mad Hatter’s Tea Emcee Jocelyn White, Mad Hatter’s Judge Joani White, Susan Farris and Suzy Gekiere and hat-wearing Kunthear Mam-Douglas, Billy Fulmer and Shane Walker, Women’s Auxiliary President Linda Spina, Tea Co-Chairs Sharla Bush and Terry Irby.
