Housing Crisis Center CEO Kelvin Brown just came on board in January and he already knows how to start the week on a great note. It seems that the Texas Bar Foundation has provided a $7,500 Legal Services grant to “help support the services provided to individuals in imminent danger of becoming homeless through offering free legal advice and direction.”
According to Kelvin, “Our free legal workshop provides information to empower thousands of individuals annually to fight for their rights. We are proud to have Texas Bar Foundation partner with us to continue offering the service that sparked our agency being established so many years ago.”
Held every second and fourth Wednesday of the month at the HCC main office, the Landlord/Tenant workshops provide “general landlord/tenant law information through an initial collection orientation, and then the opportunity to sit with an attorney to receive specific advice and direction for their situation.”
Operating on a first-come, first-serve basis, workshops are open to 22 households per session.
