While the turnout may not have been as expected for the Junior Cattle Baron’s Ball at American Airlines Center around noon on Sunday, March 31, there was a very good and real reason. The wind chill registered a temperature in the 40s, a drop of nearly 25 degrees from the day before. So, many parents who had weathered their children’s battle against cancer opted to stay home.
Still, those like Trinity Dessiant, Evan Emerick and Elle Coleman braved the weather with their kids decked out in princess and Mickey Mouse attire underneath layers of sweaters, scarves and coats. Their reward was being greeted by future Cattle Baronesses (Maidie Corrigan, Gracelyn Nix, Sloane Ogle, Caroline Corrigan, Izzy Ogle and Kylie Barnes) at the door and presented with big bags full of goodies including mouse ears. They even had Miss United State of America’s Teen Blaire Messmann complete with her crown, who was a hit with the little gals. (Factoid: Blaire is the daughter 2019 Cattle Baron’s Co-Chair Wendy Messmann.)
Before heading into the center for the Disney on Ice’s “Mickey’s Search Party” thanks to The Moody Foundation, they had their hands painted by 2019 CBB Co-Chair Lisa Shirley, gobbled up popcorn and candy, had photos taken in front of a sponsor board and also had the opportunity to create a one-of-a-kind masterpiece of art with artist Gina Dunn.
Insiders indicate that the collaborative masterpiece may debut at the 2019 Cattle Baron’s Ball’s live auction on Saturday, October 19, at Gilley’s to remind guests that their funds will support cancer research and treatments in North Texas.
