According to SPCA VP of Communications Maura Davies, “The SPCA of Texas and its Board of Directors announced a leadership change at the SPCA of Texas effective Friday, February 15, 2019. James Bias, President and CEO, will transition out of the organization and begin a new chapter in his career.”
According to SPCA Board of Directors Patricia Villareal, “James will be transitioning to a short-term consulting role as we work to bring on a leader who will take this great organization to the next level.”
James added, “The staff and volunteers are led by a committed Leadership Team and Board of Directors. In fact, it is that good standing that has helped me make this difficult decision.”
Despite the friendly parting of ways, the announcement did catch many by surprise. At the recent Paws Cause fundraiser on Sunday, January 27, there was no indication of James’ leaving “one of the oldest and largest non-profit organizations in North Texas.”
Until the new “top dog” is in placed, SPCA VP of Animal Welfare Karen Froehlich will take over as interim president/CEO.
Best wishes to James and the SPCA for future success.
