Back in April The Village of Giving Circle at Texas Women’s Foundation officially launched. The goal was for African-American female philanthropists to come together in supporting “organizations and initiative that would positively impact the North Texas African-American community.” Instead of the usual struggle to get out of the gate, The Village scored double successes in less than a year thanks to the generosity of the membership. Not only did they vet nine programs that fit their criteria, they also provided those nonprofits with $122,000 at a check presentation on Sunday, November 4.
Needless to say, the accessory du jour at the Hotel ZaZa distribution were smiles and high heels as Co-Chairs Shonn Brown and Lisa Montgomery and their Village gals handed out checks for Accion, Big Thought, Boys and Girls Clubs, City Square, Dallas Black Dance Theatre, New Friends New Life, The Family Place, Paul Quinn College and The Compelling Why.
While the post is being finalized, complete with descriptions of how the funds will be used, take a look at the smiles and the checks at MySweetCharity Photo Gallery.
