The news is continuing to hit home runs for upcoming North Texas fundraising. This one is tailor-made for anyone who loves baseball, is addicted to TMZ and/or is a St. Philip’s School and Community Center supporter.
First, clear your lunchtime on Friday, March 1. You’ll want to be in the St. Philip’s Snyder Activity Center for the 19th Annual Destiny Award Luncheon.
Now, who could be a star of baseball as well as showbiz news? Well, he’s a three-time MVP, a 14-time All-Star and a 2009 World Series Champion. Oh, and he’s going pretty steady with Jennifer “J. Lo” Lopez. Yup, you guessed it — Alex “A-Rod” Rodriguez.
The former New York Yankee will be on stage for a chat with Dallas Regional Chamber President/CEO Dale A. Petroskey, who knows a thing or two about baseball. He used to be president of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.
But then, what else would you expect when Ann and Lee Hobson are co-chairing the fundraiser along with Ashlee and Chris Kleinert as honorary co-chairs?
During the luncheon the Mona and David Munson Humanitarian Award will honor the late Father Stephen Swann and will be presented to his wife Carolyn Swann “in recognition of his significant contributions to the educational and faith communities in Dallas, particularly as founder and former Headmaster of The Episcopal School of Dallas.”
This event is one of those “strike now or strike out” deals when it comes to getting a ticket. All funds raised will directly benefit services promoting Christian education, senior services, hunger relief, student engagement and athletics.
