Thursday’s Soups On! Luncheon at the Anatole could not be better planned. Sure, those wonderful weather guessers are almost giddy over the fact that the temperatures just might be hitting the upper 60s on Friday.
But, alas, overnight a wall of cold air is going to be collapsing on North Texas. Starting Saturday those numbers will drop nearly 40 degrees hitting way below freezing at night. That means folks will move indoors around fireplaces, under duvets, snuggling with their critters and dining on soups, homemade bread and hot apple cider.
Since most folks will be home bound, why not take this time to do a little bathroom cabinet editing? If you scrounge through all those bottles and tubes, you’re bound to find those that should have been retired. But do not drop them down the drains or commodes!
Believe it or not, there is a retirement location for the aging medicines. The Council of Alcohols and Drug Abuse has provided Permanent Drug Disposal Locations. Believe it or not, there’s one in your ‘hood. You won’t get a refund or probably even a pat on the back. But you’ll do a couple of things:
- Make room in that crammed cabinet for those new hi-tech toothbrushes.
- Prevent others from using the errant drugs.
So, bundle up, get that crock pot cooking and toss the long-in-the-tooth medications.
PS — That dumping of drugs also applies to your pets’ medications.
