From The Stewpot Alliance volunteer Julia Breland,
“My simple note of thanks goes to The Stewpot in Dallas, TX. This organization works tirelessly to help the many individuals and families at risk of or experiencing homelessness in the Dallas area by providing meals, shelter, and other resources to help them start a new life.
“I have been a member of The Stewpot Alliance organization for the past two years. As a member, I am able to help organize and participate in many of the events and programs that The Stewpot provides to the community.
“My favorite of these events is the annual Women’s Holiday Tea, which is held the first Wednesday of December at their location in downtown Dallas. It is a time when women in need are invited to sit, talk, and relax; enjoy a restaurant style lunch with musical entertainment; and do a little shopping for handbags, makeup, and jewelry donated by community members. I cherish this time to get to know these ladies, share some laughs, and just enjoy each other’s company. This event has become a favorite of not only the ladies that we serve, but the ladies who volunteer. I’m so thankful that The Stewpot is able to provide special events like the Annual Women’s Holiday Tea where community members from all walks of life are able to come together, enjoy each other’s company and have a mutually memorable and fulfilling experience. It’s truly something special to see and experience when everyone is treated with equal dignity and respect!
“Following this past December’s event, we received this lovely thank you note from a client of The Stewpot who attended the Women’s Holiday Tea. This is yet another testament to the wonderful impact The Stewpot is having on the lives of struggling Dallas community members.
“’Thank you for the opening prayer. I think my favorite part of the food is the fact that they made the caramel for the dessert from scratch! I’ve made my own and I know the difference. It was wonderful! And I’m a big Tim Burton fan, so I was especially happy when the wallet in my purse had the Corpse Bride logo on it. There were all kinds of really good makeup that I definitely could not have afforded right now, but needed. It was a very nice time. All these women put so much into this event. Very much appreciated.
‘Dawn C.’”
